Chef Porkchop

Just another panel on the wall.

I am an expert in nothing. I am a jack of some trades, and my interests vary with the wind. What qualifies me to teach anyone about any subject? Absolutely nothing: but when a subject intrigues me enough, I research it past the point of reason.

Chef Porkchop is a persona created to separate the friend from the teacher. In every field, job, forum, and elevator people have a tendency to believe they are the smartest person in the room. While occasionally this may be true, it tends to create a dismissive attitude towards any outside information. Everyone gained their current knowledge from somewhere: shutting down the possibility of receiving new information from someone they deem inferior due to age, gender, status, or educational background is simply a fool. Masking my identity is by no means an attempt to remain anonymous (even my chosen moniker is a huge clue to my real identity), but rather to separate the author doling out facts from the normal person that some “experts” might dismiss for one reason or another. I write from experience, research, interviews, and I will never include information that I cannot validate.

When my brother and I were children, if we had a question about who, what, when, where, or how, my mother would direct us to our World Book Encyclopedias. This is how I learned about the horrors of cheese-making, that zebras’ stripes are like fingerprints, and if your father errantly takes a collection of outdated books to the dump he will hear about it for the rest of his life. But more importantly, this experience taught me to find the answer to any question myself. Luckily, the Internet and I were growing up at the same time. Through trial-and-error, along with growing the vocabulary needed to properly deal with search engines (I miss AskJeeves), I mastered a very effective research technique. I may have phoned-in all of my essays in grade school, but my MLB was always on point. Anyway, all of this is just to say that I will always do my due diligence when I research any topic.

After years of personal research and experience, an easy to understand writing style, and answers to questions you didn’t even know you had, this site provides a much-needed and convenient resource to any interested party.

This site is dedicated to relevant posts and blogs about Chef Porkchop’s favorite subjects: Deadly Nature, and The Science Behind Life and Death.

If there’s a topic you’d like to know too much about but don’t feel like doing the leg work yourself, feel free to head on over to the Contact page and bother me with your questions!
